Gary for the benefit of your self and any one else here is what to do when
installing your DoubleTalk external synthesizer.
1. first, since it is an external no drivers are needed because Windows 95
or 98 will find the synth on your com port. Plug the synth in to a com port
that you are not using like com1 or com2. Now the best thing to do and the
easiest thing to do is to just re-install jfw if you can. If you have to go
in to the jfw.ini file you must do some editing which can lock jfw up if
you don't know what to do. A re-install is the best way to go about it,
believe me. I have installed a DoubleTalk External my self. I use both the
DoubleTalk PC and the DoubleTalk external. The external on my laptop and
the internal on my desktop PC. Hope this helps you. However if you want a
copy of the edited text just email me privately and I will send it to you.
In fact, Gary I have the text of the jfw.ini file here so here it is. First
of all, the file is in the c:\jfw32 folder. Here's the DoubleTalk text to
put in your ini file. If you want it to be the default synth put it first
in the synthesizers part of the file you'll see it in brackets:
[synthesizers]
Synth1Name=lt
Synth1LongName=Doubletalk LT or Lighttalk
Synth1Port=com1:9600,n,8,1
Synth1Driver=SSIL
Their is your text in the order of how it should be written Gary.
