When I first saw the mails about the strange and short beta test period I thought
people were overreating, because I only downloaded the 3.30.13 and from this version
there was i think 3 weeks until what HJ calls the first release of 3.3 3.30.22 was
realease.
The following has changed my mind in this case. I have installed IE5.0 minimal
installlation. In Outlook Express the scripts reading the fields from to cc and so on,
are still there. Well almost the alt+1 script does not on my pc read the from field.
HJ tech support wrote back advising me to turn off the preview pane. Well I had
already done this! The reaction from tech supports seems to indicate that the problem
is known at HJ.
Well is it so bad that there is released a first version of 3.3 with bugs that
propperly will result in a new version beeing posted in some weeks? For people using
JFW in other countries such a policy leeds to even greater delays before we get e.g.
the Danish version of JFW. A JFW version seems to live for 12 months until a new and
much improved version is released. Our experience in Denmark is that it takes about 4
to 5 months until the first official Danish version is released. This means that we
have to wait half of the versions lifetime when this is taken to be the time between
the first official release until the first officiel release of the next major version
e.g. 3.0 to 3.2 and 3.2 to 3.3.
Eric Dammery of HJ promised last summer that this problem was beeing addressed at HJ
in the U.S. and he stated clearly that HJ in the U.S. was responsible for these very
long localization times and that the local HJ dealers in Europe were not to blame.
That has happened, well as described in 3.3 HJ now prolongs the time between U.S:
release and European releases with the premature release of 3.30.22. This happens
because the deelers know about the problems in the current version and now they are
waiting for the first stable version until starting the big task of localization.
I hope HJ will address these localization problems in the next version. Actually there
are many customers outside the U.S.
