Hello Stan,
Are you in a specific program, such as the Desktop, when you test this
script? Try it again, and if you get the "unknown script" message, hit
Insert+8 to launch the Keyboard Manager, then immediately hit Tab to enter
the Key assignment list for the current application. Arrow up and down
through this list and see if that key assignment is in this app anywhere,
and if so, what script it is associated with. It sounds like the local
application has an assignment to that script, and it is overriding the
global assignment of that same key.
I'm stabbing in the dark here, but when you deleted the script and compiled,
did it still give you that "Window should be int, not string..." message?
If it did, and if you've tdded no other modifications to that file, then
replace the default.jss, default.jsd, and the default.jkm files with the
backup copies you said you have.
Go into Control+Shift+0 and hit Control+S to compile the new replacements.
That should get you back to a clean sheet of paper, so recycle JFW from
memory and hit the key assignment you tried to assign to that script. If
you still get that message, then the local-over-global situation I mentioned
above seems the likely situation.
