To answer your rudely worded question about what's wrong with hearing
"numpad" every time a key on the numpad is pressed, many of us like to
enter numbers with the numpad instead of the top row of the typing
keyboard. It is much quicker to varify what we're typing if we don't
have to hear "numpad" before every digit! Your post also makes the
rather strange assumption that we are all intimately familiar with
scripts and how to change them. This may come as a shock to you, but
most of us are computer users, not computer programmers. I am very
grateful to the script writers on this list who have given a great
deal of help, realizing that most people have very little knoledge
about programming.

That's why they give you the source to the scripts in the first place.
