In some ways, I completely agree with you. HJ should have been more
responsive to bug reports. And they should have incorporated the fixes
into the final release instead of making us download a patch later.
On the other hand, since this is a free upgrade, we must temper
our complaints. Believe me, if HJ wanted to reduce my SMA count for
this, I would have been trying to organize everyone with an SMA to
take legal action against HJ if necessary. But the program is free. HJ
knows it's not ready, but wanted to give us access to the v cursor in
the meantime. And of course, they wanted to be able to say that JFW is
as good on the net as WindowEyes.
Someone made the ridiculous comment that you could have
reconfigured the keyboard in less time than it took to write your
letter. This statement is true only if the numpad issue was the only
problem in 3.31. But it certainly is not. 3.31 is, in general, overly
talkative. We've had threads on the list about the numpad, OE5, top of
window etc. JFW is starting to remind me of some sighted people who
think the blind need to have everything explained, and can't figure
out anything on their own. Help and explanation are wonderful. But
when excessive, they're extremely irritating!
