Your idea about a tech column is a possible, but not complete solution, in
my opinion.
It seems to me that a lot of the communication we get from H-J is reactive.
You will make a short announcement, like there is a new final version of JFW
or something. There will then be a firestorm of questions and somebody,
like you will post a message explaining things in more detail, saying what
you should have said in the first place.
First, myimpression is that H-J employees read this list, but no one is
officially responsible. It is like you want to use it and benefit from it
but no one wants to get their hands really dirty. I think Nick's work is
commendable, but you should be running your own list, officially monitoring
and responding to it, and being responsible for it. One H-J employee
recently told me he thought that many internet controversies might just be a
tempest in a teapot, so to speak, my words, not his. Maybe so, but maybe
not. H-J is trying to have it both ways with this list, use it but not
really be involved.
I think you should go all the way, be official here, or start your own list,
and post often and in detail.
