Jfw3.2 in MS Word 97 won't shut up

When using jfw 3.2 in MS Word 97, I can not get it to shut up  when typing.
It will only stop talking when I hit a key, but as soon as I release my
finger , it starts speaking the whole line.  I have gone into the user
options in the configuration  manager and the default  file, but nothing
seems to stop this rattling on.
