this is a relatively simple thing at least in part. when mcafee is set
to check everything your system does, it will degrade performance.
sounds for instance require hard disk activity. if mcaffee is slowing
down your hd due to file activity screening such as screening each
program and each instance of read write to the hd then things can sound
strange. to eliminate this, tell mcaffee to back off by reducing some
of the requirements. I am not a mcaffee for windows expert but most
anti viral packages have means to set what they do.
as to your other problem, my guess is that when web scan doesn't find
the web since it is set to run at start up apparently then it may fault.
