Hi,
One of the best I found back in the days when I was playing was a program
called g mud written as gmud. All I really had to do was set my JFW to read
all and the game came alive for me. I could even assign sounds to various
types of outcomes of a fight, for example, to make it more interesting. You
should be able to do a search for gmud and find it quite easily.
