Hello, everyone. If you're ready to play, you're ready to read Audyssey.
It's a magazine I've edited which deals with computer games accessible to
the blind. There was a pretty extensive article on muds and JFW in an
earlier issue of Audyssey, and muds have popped up over the past three years
numerous times. With the current version of JFW, and even with earlier ones,
the Winfrotz and Wintads interpreters can be used to play interactive
fiction written in the Inform and Tads languages. The new version of JFW
makes this a snap to do. When using either interpreter, you should set the
screen echo to "say all" while playing a game. If you have to access the
aplication menus, just set screen echo to "say highlighted" until you resume
playing the game. By aplication menus, I mean those specific to Winfrotz and
Wintads and not built into the games. For the help and information menus in
Inform games, you should use the up and down arrow keys while in "say all"
mode to make best use of them. Ignore the instructions which tell you to
press N and P to go to the next and previous items. Using the up and down
arrows allows JFW to speak the menu item that is highlighted. For some
reason, the Infocom game Beyond Zork seems not to focus in on the menus well
for some reason. I hope this helps people enjoy their systems and JFW
better.

Subject: MUD Clients & JFW?

I've been using JFW for most of a year now, and it's been very good to
me in work. Now I'm ready to play...

Can someone tell me of a mud client for Windows 98 that works well with
JAWS 3.2? I've tried Portal, Pueblo and ZMud so far, and all of them
were nightmares despite my efforts and a willingness to suffer in the
kingdom of the sighted for a little bit of gaming fun. that works well
with JFW?

Thanks,

     Bill
