When you encounter the problem again, go to 'Cancel' in the dial-up dialogue
and press Enter on Cancel. Then, in Outlook Express (or Outlook) press
<AltF> for File Menu and <w> for 'work off-line'. "Work Off-Line" is now
checked, and will remain so for the rest of the session. You are now
'working off'line' as far as your email program is concerned, and when you
dial up again you will be told "you are presently working off-line, do you
want to connect now?" or words to that effect. Enter and proceed.

: Hi Julio,
:
: Yes, oh yes, I to indeed have experienced this annoying problem! I
: didn't realize that it only happened with html messages, so thanks for
: pointing that out. I have not found a way to stop the problem, and
: like you, the only way I can close the dial-up window is to alt tab
: back to the offending message and either delete it or close it and
: unhighlight it.
