The opportunities for corruption in Passport Offices has by and large been removed, by availability of the forms even in post offices, acceptance of filled forms with acknowledgement, stipulation of time limit for Police verification reports and the instructions to issue the passports within 30 days of receipt of applications. The difficulties arise only when the forms are improperly filled and the stipulated certificates/ documents are not attached and these should be got verified at the Counter of submission of the forms. Corruption is a two way process- the giver and the taker when some undue favours are expected. In the normal course Passports are issued within 30 days of acceptance of the forms and enclosures without any difficulty. I do not know why Jharkand faces so many such problems!! Social workers like DungDung who started Social service at the age of six in Jharkand, should be familiar with these problems and help the concerned!!
