This makes sense to me. What I suggest @adikou is to satisfy yourself that
this is a useful enhancement and there are no downsides we've not noticed so
far. Then you could revise the KIP and push for a new vote. It should still fit
comfortably in the 4.4 schedule, and be a more elegant solution. Thank you
