The problem is that the like the interfaces to be "consistent" instead of optimized for each type of device. My argument was that consistency can be reach without having the exact same interface on all devices. To me it's more important that a touch screen interface is optimized for touch screen usage than that it looks exactly the same as the Radio player.

I think the only reason it exists is because it is used during development because it's easier to do debugging and development on the desktop compared to real hardware. I personally suspect that the only reason Squeezeplay Desktop was developed in the first place was to be able to start development of a interface that later could be used on a touch screen. Some of the developers might have seen some usage of it as a HTPC solution but I think that idea was discarded when the management started to think about it from an economical point of view.
