Good point. Yes, I can use variables from the user defined variables in the root test plan. However, what I was trying to do was to use the Regex Extractor to assign a dynamic value to a reference name and try using it in the HTTP Header Manager (which I hoped would look up the variable before every HTTP sampler execution and refresh the value).
