Well, the problem with that is that that would make it impossible to know
that the file really was 2D and not 3D after loading. There are situations
where we need to know that. For example, the Resolver on odd occasions
returns a 2D file instead of a 3D file when it has trouble converting 2D to
3D. I wish it didn't do this, but it does. That said, CTAB files ARE read
this way -- automatically setting the dimension to 2D if that is the case. I
guess that's inconsistent, and we could think about that.
