yeah, it's weird; i own about 10 dylan CDs and i guess
i've been pretty lucky because i think they are all
fantastic and i can't imagine not having them in my life.

but then again, i think i qualify as one of those 
"dylan likers" even though i suppose that's pretty rare
around these parts.  doesn't it seem like the joni
people are in one camp, and the bob people in another?
my loyalties fall squarely with JM, but i can't say
i don't see just as much fire, talent and vision when
i'm learning to listen to mr. dylan.  

i realize this is a thread we've done before but i
just find it interesting that both of these artists are
still out there, still writing (c'mon, joni!), and
still doing their thing(s).  and yet they don't seem
to (overtly) acknowledge one another as influences,
compatriots, or rivals.  hmmm....

i think of joni as brazen and bold, willing to make her vulnerability 
part of music -- but dylan strikes
me as ducking and feinting even from his own genius.

OK -- this is clearly gone into rambling mode, so enough!
