As noted, the HDCD CD's are all remastered.
The difference between the HDCD and the older standard issue
is not really that much, at least on a regular CD player, depending on
the title. The highs are a little truer, but I had to test FTR back and
forth several times to hear any difference, using good headphones.
Maybe some of the other titles show more improvement.
The best CD's are the audiophile issues of Blue (still available for $25)
and WTRF (out of print). The worst is probably the original issue
of C&S. The HDCD issue of STAS is a big improvement, too.
Look for the HDCD logo on the rear of the CD. Also note that
in Europe some people discovered the regular issue CD packaged
in the HDCD cover. The real HDCD will have the HDCD logo
on the disc itself. If it doesn't, take it back!
