It comes from an old nursery rhyme, which has several different versions, and
lengths. The old English version is:

Tinker, Tailor
Soldier, Sailor
Rich Man, Poor Man
Beggar Man, Thief.

The "American" version is:

Rich man, poor man
Beggar man, thief.
Doctor, lawyer,
Indian Chief.
