We went to see it last night & I am glad I read Victor's review to prepare me for a major dissapointment after reading so many good reviews of this movie. Even though it has been decades since I have read these books & I hardly remembered any details, I agree 100% with Victor.
Yes, the sets were beautiful, the special effects amazing, but it was all about action & no character development & barely even any story at all which is a big shame. It seemed mostly about how great they could make the special effects, whether they were neccessary or not...sometimes they were overdone like a record that has been overproduced. You notice the effects rather than being carried away by the movie. A visual treat but really just another very two dimensional action flick with a few poetic lines thrown in here & there.
