I wonder if Ozzy Osbourne was listening to Joni Mitchell in the early seventies. Blue came out with "River" in 1971. I was listening to Black Sabbath Vol.4 which came out in 1972, and there's a very pretty piano love ballad on there that starts with this line,
"I'm feeling happy, I feel so sad, I've lost the best friend that I ever had." O. Osbourne I immediately thought of "River". That one line really stands out.
