Bob! I'd argue that Em only rhymes "yo" with "ho" once, but since it is in a refrain, it gets repeated a bit.
That is some really incredibly talented wrting that he does, and the music that underlies it is very creative and brilliant. Because it is rap, because of his reputation, his skills get overlooked way too easily. But the kid is a genius IMHO and what he says is far more profound and moving than he is given credit for. Now, the overuse of the word "motherfucker" and the middle finger in the air, that was overdone by every act in the show, and it all loses its meaning after a time. It is a part of the culture of hip hop. Rap indeed is not for everyone, and for me was an acquired taste, but one that I am glad that I have gained. The most moving song in Eminem's set list was Hailey's Song, and the audience responded. You got a guy up there proclaiming in song after song his love for his daughter and the importance of faithfulness, and the pain of a generation that was raised in single parent homes and by parents who were more into their own thing, including drugs and sex, than the kids they brought into the world - the reaction to that was powerful in Em's set as well as in Papa Roach's. There was a lot of humor, operatic flourishes, neo-vaundeville, and straight out rock and rap in the entire evening, all very entertaining, and much more complex that people credit rap with having. And the number 1 purpose of rock and roll is always, to piss off your parents. And Em does well at that! Number 2 purpose: straight out rocking, and the audience did, everyone had a fine time. It is to your credit Bob that you gave the guy a chance and his due. It is not for everyoone, nothing is - hell, I can't stand country and (watch for the shit to fly) jazz. But I have respect for those who do it, because I can appreciate something that is just not my cup of tea. And Bob, your are always fair, always open, always giving a chance, and I respect your judgments and your ability to transcend the musical limitations that we all have. Vince
