I just got home about an hour ago from working the phones for my local PBS affiliate's (WGBH/Boston) membership pledge drive. While we were in the conference room waiting to be taken in to the studio, the huge-screen TV there was tuned to the live pledge drive programming, and as they were begging for contributions, who do you think appeared on screen? You guessed it, Joni! The sound was off, so I didn't catch what they said. And since it is Labor Day weekend, no one there knew anything about upcoming programming, but the Joni plug was for her long-awaited American Masters show.
I tried to find out when they were planning to air it by going to www.wgbh.org, but as of tonight, their American Masters schedule only goes through the end of October with the following artists scheduled: Merce Cunningham, Gene Kelly, Willie Nelson, and Lon Chaney. So anyway, it looks like the American Masters program with Joni is a go. But it may be November or later before we see it. At least it's something to look forward to after these shiny hot nights are over and the warriors of winter are shouting triumphantly! Best wishes for a great Labor Day weekend to everybody in the US. Especially Mags, our newest import! --Bob
