This reminds me of a day trip to Toledo, just North of Madrid, a few years 
ago.  Toledo is a perfectly preserved classic Spanish city, enclosed in the 
original city wall, with lots of diverse architectural influences, notably 
Moorish.  And the Cathedral is one of the most extraordinary buildings I've 
ever seen.

And yet, and yet: seemingly on EVERY corner there was a bleedin' McDonald's 
or Burger King, or even both.  It really depressed me, it seemed that a 
unique city was being despoiled.
