Life being the "circle game" it tends to be, as people age they often 
come back around to nostalgic memories of their childhood.  Joni was 
born in 1943.  The 40s were all about "romantic" images, especially in 
the movies, in which many (if not most) of the actors smoked.  So 
perhaps it's not so odd.

Debra, I do see your point about the statue being viewed 100 years from 
now.  (Of course, pessimist that I am, I don't expect anything to be 
here then.)
