I think JONI sees smoking as an inherent part of her being, though. Afterall, this is a woman who manages to break the usual "no smoking" rules at various venues (ex., the TNT Tribute). And although I can't locate it in the JMDL Library (I'm not sure it's there), wasn't there an interview in which Joni mentioned that an Indian or shaman told her that her smoking keeps her "grounded" or keeps her "from disappearing"? (Does anyone else remember this?) For some reason, I think Joni would be offended if her statue did not include a cigarette. Maybe I'm wrong, but she does want it to be a true likeness, and I think that means "warts" and all. Lori ~
