Not trained at all - that's why I'm taking the course
- it's called "Singing from scratch" and it's aimed at
adults who want to get some voice training, most of
whom have never taken any. There's about 8 people in
the class and we sing mostly as a group. We start with
warmup exercises and then move into the singing. By
about the third class, we're supposed to be ready to
start practicing our solos in front of the class. This
is my third class of it and I'm enjoying it a lot. The
group, whichever group I've been in, is very
supportive and my teacher is excellent - not only does
she know her stuff, but she has a wicked sense of
humour, and the accompanist is so sweet.

My problem is trying to get the music for it - that
is, music that's already in print and readily
available. If I could accompany myself on guitar, I
could just change the key by transposing the chords or
using a capo, but this is a bit different. (I figure,
I'll obey the rules for now but later - anarchy
rules!)

I LOVE Nina Simone. And Ella Fitzgerald. And so many
more. And I'd love to do a duet with you - or anyone,
for that matter!
