thanks Karl, but you see, I thought I circumvent the issue by actually having loaded the "new" content into an invisible DIV already. hence lis line:
$('#tab_1').html( $('#tabcontent_1').html() );
it's "moving" the contents of the invisible DIV into the tab DIV.
