Yeah, well Tomcat's a dog, contrary to its common name.  It's a reference
implementation, so it's not necessarily meant to be a replacement for a
production quality product.  You'll find that JRun 3.0, Resin 1.1, Orion 1.0
and ServletExec's latest are all fast as hell compared to Tomcat.
