I totally agree.  JFreeChart is an awesome package (please note that I have
nothing to do with it...I'm just a very satisfied user).  My advice is to go
ahead and spend the $30 USD on the docs...they are worth it.  And the list
for JFreeChart is at

posted a question there that wasn't answered by the author within 24 hours.
