Technically if you do your program is LGPL too.
Exactly what that means isn't clear, since your application source
is not derived from Judy: your source (apart from Judy) is yours
unencumbered but the binary program is encumbered.

Many vendors such as the Ocaml vendors use what I call LGPLX, or LGPL
with an added clause explicitly granting an exemption for
static linkage. Doug might agree to that if you need you distribute
binaries and don't wish to publish the source (except for mods
to Judy).

I personally claim Felix (which uses Judy) is FFAU: free for any use
even when static linking. Any mods I make to Judy are published
on GitHub anyhow. I doubt anyone cares (especially as I rave
about how good Judy is :)
