Hi Warner and all,

I was very impressed with the quality of all the presentations. Like Warner,
I found the panel discussions illuminating as it's always great to get some
advanced notice on the 'next big thing'.

My favorite presentations included:
- Metaprogramming by Stuart Halloway.
I think I was most impressed by Stuart himself and watching his thought
process in action. While at the conference, I also purchased his book:
Component Development for the Java Platform. Stuart had 3 sessions at the
conference I believe, all derived from the topics in his book.

- Spring by Bruce Tate
Bruce is an excellent presenter and I have been very interested in the
Spring framework.
(note: unfortunately, Erik Hatcher's Lucene presentation was scheduled at
the same time. I heard great comments about Erik's session as well.)

- JavaServer Faces by Rick Hightower
Rick provided a wonderful overview of JSF along with practical examples in
action. He made it clear what problems he felt JSF was designed to solve and
demonstrated how it was very effective in doing so. (later he gave a
presentation on JSF Components which built upon this presentation).

In fairness to Erik and Tapestry, I purchased Tapestry in Action at the
conference in order to compare and contrast JSF and Tapestry. (I missed
Erik's Tapestry presentation in order to attend my Daughter's birthday
party.)

- Better Design Patterns with AOP by Nick Lesiecki
In this session, Nick the AOP master, demonstrated how AOP solves problems
solved by OOD design patterns. He then demonstrated some really cool uses of
AOP such as Swing Thread Safety where he showed how AOP could be used to
automatically clean up Swing/AWT thread violations.

After attending a No Fluff Just Stuff conference, I would highly recommend
this conference to anyone wanting to get a handle on the latest tools,
processes and trends in Java. In addition to the panels and presentations,
there is nothing like being able to talk to some the leading minds in our
industry (and in my case, have dinner with them =).
