Hi Stefan, there are still people who have to plot map, like me. Recently I had to print again old GIS projects (geological maps) and I gave a chance to OpenJUMP/Cadplann printer with very nice results. I used embedded OJ geological symbols for point symbols For linear symbols I developed line symbol classes to use as decorations. And for areal symbols I simple used my own patterns with Geof's JumpFillPattern plugin (embedded into OJ PLus). I put a (sample map here: http://sourceforge.net/projects/opensit/files/Programmi%20e%20corsi/sample_maps/Auletta_geo.png/download.
