Regarding Ravi's question (2. The symbols should take rotation from attribute value), this is important (for us geologists, of coarse) since we geologist use a wide range of symbols connected to different types of objects (basically areal and linear object) and each of them should take a different rotation according to its position to the North (generally clockwise, from 0° to 359°). That means that if we have a group of 15 or 20 different point symbols, each of them is probabily divided in 360 subgroups. The totakl number of subgroups is impossible to manage with different datasets in a GIS Editor. That's the reason of a "rotation according to an attribute value". Anyhow in few days I can send you the SVG geological symbols of my fonts.
