i don't know if the Pirol webpage does provide something similar.
I have some code for such a plugin, but it only reads point (xyz) and no
further attributes.

Do you need attributes?
Probably it would be easy if one assumes that the ascii data look like
that: x y z double double double ...
everything else is a bit more diffiicult
