mhm.. actually Adobe Photoshop calculates the size for an image 5108x4000 px, 200dpi with 58MB

so .. not that much (i.e. 300MB)?

Hi Geof,
I tested also your printer plugin. I discover a
problem.
When I try to change the scale to 10.000 on the
printer window, the computer freezes and I have to
stop JRE. I discover that the co9mputer starts to use
more memory (like 300 MB or more) during this
operation.
I don't know if the freezing problem is connected to
my computer (Athlon 1800+, 524 RAM) that can't handle
printing large image.
The image I use originally is a 5108x4000 PIXEL, 200
DPI, which basically is the most common type of
topographic maps in Italy. I'll do other tests with yourn plugin and I let you
know.

Dear Guiseppe and others

My printer plugin (recent versions) can save the
"print" image to a file at virually any resolution you need. The trick is to choose a scale so that the image appears over several (many) sheets of
paper (on A4 you get about 450 pixels per A4 sheet width), so if you
"print" over 10 sheets (wide) you can get about 4500 pixels in width
- than save as image rather than print.

Naturally the quality varies with the renderer used,
my external renderer will always give a good quality, though
since it is not a part of the OJ core it may not always be up to date. I am still working on a better renderer using tips from Larry, but there are
still some problems,

Geoff
