Larry, I think we should have our own GUI/Icon style rather than just following the design of ESRI tools, Now when coming up with that style we can take into account design elements such as what is used in general software and also GIS software so that any computer user would be able to work out the function of the icon.
As a compramise, let's have the following icons for the open menu items and toolbar (slightly different from now) Open... The folder with the + Open File... The folder with a page Open Project.. The folder with the project you created. Uwe, I'm not sure why you think the new Open Wizard is a hard way to load PostGIS tables, in the old method you selected a drop down then entered the parameters. With the new one you double click an icon and then enter the parameters.
