The smallest size a BGP-4 update message can be is 19 bytes
(minimum), while the largest size it can be is 4,096 bytes.

The 8,192 bytes you're seeing in the session details relate
to the MSS that BGP has negotiated based on the interface
MTU or configured 'tcp-mss' command. This does not change
the fact that the largest size a BGP update message can be
is 4,096 bytes.

This has always been the case since BGP-2.

Hope this clarifies.

Cheers,

Mark.
