I am looking for some advise. I am looking at picking up two Juniper MX5's to
replace a Cisco 7206 Router that is acting as a BGP router. I am wanting to run
the Juniper's in as much of a HA or failover as can be. I have two BGP
connections to the outside world. My thought process so far is to terminate one
upstream BGP connection into each MX5. Then I was thinking of running a
physical link between the two MX5s and run a iBGP session . Then coming off
each MX5 would be a VRRP instance that would connect to the rest of my network.
This would allow all of my network to only know one default gateway but
hopefully allow the MX5's the capability of fully utilize both upstream
connections. Is there a better way or any 'gotchas' that comes to mind with the
above?
