Anybody on the list doing freelance work right now? What are you charging for your services? I met a writer over the weekend that said she bills at like $60 an hour. I thought it was rather odd that she made more money than I did.

I do only freelance work. I charge $50 per hour for design, $65 for
programming such as DB building, CF (I'm a total novice but I
don't charge for all the time I use learning while working on it),
and I charge between $35 and $50 for content writing (Depends on
the size of the project. I write software manuals, on-line help, articles
(especially for the legal arena since I have previous legal experience
but not exclusive of course), and that sort of thing.

Do remember if you are not a freelancer, that freelance people
pay their own taxes, workers comp, insurance, vacation, office
space and equipment, etc.

I would hope that all freelancers, like me, do not charge for the
learning phase. I frequently "play around" for ideas when I'm
designing and don't charge until I'm really going on what I'm
going to do.
