Exactly. By default, Nemo creates new folders in the current directory. The
"subfolder behavior" only occurs after explicitly switching to “Details” view.
That makes it predictable and tied to an intentional user action. I find Nemo's
implementation reasonable.

Your video demonstrates the "Details" view, but if someone wants to see the
out-of-the-box experience, here it is:

I am using Dolphin v25.08.3 from the Kubuntu Backports PPA which behaves like
"any other file manager", I am sorry to break this to you.
