            Bug ID: 522726
Summary: Animations, window shadows, and other components
                    broken since 6.7.1
    Classification: Plasma
           Product: kwin
      Version First 6.7.1
       Reported In:
          Platform: Other
                OS: Linux
            Status: REPORTED
          Severity: major
          Priority: NOR
         Component: wayland-generic
          Assignee: [email protected]
          Reporter: [email protected]
  Target Milestone: ---

DESCRIPTION
Updated to 6.7.1, and found that all animations, window shadows, the color
picker widget, and multiple screenshot utilities no longer worked.
I am running Artix Linux, using runit as the init system, on a thinkpad X200.

I have tried:
- reinstalling kwin
- reinstalling the entire desktop environment (and clearing all configs)
- resetting window decorations to default

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
I wish I knew.

OBSERVED RESULT
no animations
no window shadows
spectacle and flameshot both don't work
the color picker dialog refuses to invoke the eyedropper.

EXPECTED RESULT
the desktop and its components generally work.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Operating System (available in the Info Center app, or by running `kinfo` in a
terminal window):
KDE Plasma Version: 6.7.1 to 6.7.2
KDE Frameworks Version: 6.27.0
Qt Version: 6.11.1

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
While attempting to fix this, I installed plasma-wayland-protocols. Upon
rebooting, X11 (which I had been using while attempting to fix things) broke,
and now does not display the contents of ANY WINDOW, instead drawing a white
rectangle where the window should be.

I am happy to provide additional information upon request, as I understand that
this issue has not been experienced by other users. My suspicion is that
something got changed to rely on something I didn't know was broken, but that's
pure guesswork on my part.
