But I agree with you that the premise that everything out there will start behaving properly in relation to clipboard is not realistic. The thing about injustice I think is a bit off. I assume you do not pay for KDE, so I am not sure it has any obligation to you (I mean, KDE would never have, but maybe some company working on it might :-)). The thing is this would need to fit in into the visual language of KDE. From my understanding, those are badges. Battery shows percentages, Bluetooth nubmer of connected devicer, Update when there are updates, sound applet when there is no sounds. Colour means you are supposed to do something with the case of Discover, which is out of the question here. I guess it all comes down to "how to make this comprehensible to the user without being too distracting", which is actually rather difficult thing to do. Your idea with the dots is no comprehensible, I am afraid. You would need a message in the tooltip saying something like "five new clipboard entries in the last minute" or something like that. By the way the tooltip shows the last entry - just hovering above it would not be enough for you? A thing with precedent would be to offer a badge with the number of entries, but I do not find that personally useful at all. But people might be different.
