The old model then removes the registration used by its replacement, causing desktop icons to disappear. Track registrations by owner and remove the mapping when the last matching owner releases it. Disconnect mapping signals while changing a model's folder URL, then refresh its filter after registration. Add regression tests for overlapping models and final-owner cleanup.
