Well, I don't have ANY development skills at all. I had a few months course on
C# and then stopped. Even with that basic knowledge I managed to modify the
source of gnome-screenshot to remove the flash that was created when taking
screenshots. So, if I can do that with just my basic knowledge for a different
programming language, you should be able to track the culprit for this bug and
for bug id 354802. Frankly I'm more interested in 354802 getting fixed and it
could be tracked by making KDE to log absolutely everything that is happening
at startup and then search for which module exactly is modifying the desktop
config file to make icons scramble and make the desktop longer in horizontal
length. Then search the code for the faulty module and fix it. I thought you as
developers (I mean all of KDE teams, not just you in particular) would have
already thought about logging the startup activity. The same method can be used
to track the problem with the current bug we're commenting here - 360478.

I apologize if my previous post sounded harsh but try to see it from my point
of view as a user - it's like a professional mechanic from the service of your
car brand to tell you they can't repair your car and you have to do it yourself
when you have absolutely no knowledge of the hardware in your car. I'm pretty
sure you'll have the same reaction to such a statement.
