Firefox uses a pretty obvious opt-out, though. Yes, the box is checked by default, but it shows it explicitly to users at the first run, they don't have to actively look for it in the settings. I am all for more analytics (probably more than many others, given that I'm a user researcher), we really need that, but users have to be clear about what's going on. Firefox provides that.
