Yes I agree with one central directory, but with few exceptions.
stdcxx or boost are good candidates for these exception. In other
cases I agree with you.

I think we need more detail discussion about these things i.e :

- directory structure
- version decision (3.5.8 x 4.0 or both)
- package format (SVR4 or IPS, rules for create .... names, paths ....)
- build dependency map
- install dependency map
- and so on and so on ....

.... in other words ... we need Project rules, web site, wiki and few
other people.
