I have no idea, but it's kinda the wrong list to ask that question... You very 
probably *do* need write-permission for the device, so that's worthwhile 
investigating. :-)

Our very own Adriaan de Groot, hacker extraordinaire and kpilot developer has 
just gone on vacation, so it might take a while before anybody will be able 
to answer that part.
