Don't take this personally, but the amount, locatation and detail of 'needed' 
documentation is relative to the person sitting in front of the computer and 
we acknowledge that fact by providing and attending to this free support 
mailinglist and the website (http://freebsd.kde.org) in our unpaid spare 
time.

Many people manage to install FreeBSD and KDE along with it just fine with the 
existing documentation. 

And on the other hand, long-time experience with various flavours of Unix, 
packaging systems and building or even software development can very easily 
be counterproductive when it comes to learning yet another way of doing 
things (or reading/finding the right pieces of documenation), because old 
habits, wrong assumptions and different concepts get in the way.
