Unfortunately, it's not very strange at all but a rather well known problem -
the KDE SVG icon code has some serious bugs and lots of iconsets out there
make it crash on FreeBSD 5 - reason unknown.

There is no way of finding out if an iconset will work or not than by
trial-and-error either - glaze and cirkles obviously don't (in fact, even the
monochrome iconset that comes with kdeaccessibility doesn't).

If you cannot run kcontrol anymore due the crashes, run

kcmshell icons

in an xterm - this should bring up the iconset kcontrol module and allow you
to change back to Crystal SVG or some other set.
